In order to prevent Mohammed ﷺ being taken as god or son of a god, Allah has clearly mentioned his status in the Qur’an and declared him as a human.. Unfortunately, there still are sects, especially in Indian subcontinent who consider Prophet Mohammed ﷺ as a deity, and anyone who does not agree is considered as a disbeliever. They are following in the footsteps of Christians who elevated their Prophets to divinity.
Prophet Mohammed ﷺ was born like every human-being but a sect among Muslims corrupted their belief by believing that he was born out of Noor(light) of Allah, though it has never been mentioned anywhere in the Qur’an or in Ahadeeth. . This is deviation in belief in spite that all of them recite the same verses of Qur’an and read the same books of Ahadeeth. Before the advent of this sect in the late 20th century, the entire Muslim community agreed that the Prophet ﷺ was a human, like all of us, except that his status was very noble and lofty due to prophethood. He ate, drank and walked in the streets. That was exactly what the Makkan pagan had objected to:
“HOW CAN HE BE A PROPHET WHEN HE EATS AND DRINKS AND WALKS IN THE STREETS (JUST LIKE US)?”
There were some regrettable incidents in one of the cities of India. A local moulana officiated Nikkah of a person who believed that our Prophet ﷺ is a Bashar (human) like us. The sect raised a great hue and cry and declared that performing the marriage of a disbeliever also leads to disbelief. It ended up with a declaration that both Moulana and the newly wedded person had become ‘Murtad’ (apostate), and declared that their wives were now haraam for them. The wives were separated from their husbands and they had to remarry with fresh mahr.
Once an 80 years old person from the same sect participated in the burial prayer of a person who believed that Prophet ﷺ was a Bashar. He was forced to remarry his old wife because of a similar fatwa.
The conclusion is that everyone has to believe in the correct concept of the Prophethood, without adding or subtracting anything from the teachings of Islam, as has been mentioned in the Quran:
“They have not believed until they believe the way you have believed”
